In response to numerous complaints of Nigerians on the
incessant sending of unsolicited text messages, the Nigerian Communication
Commission (NCC) had recently, from July 1st, 2016, mandated telecom operators in
the country to implement a “Do Not Disturb” (DND) service. Network users are to be given the opportunity of choosing whether or not to be enlisted
for DND activation, thereby resolving an issue that attracted the public's ire. Those enlisted for DND are not to be sent messages categorized
as promotional/unsolicited any longer.
It however appears that not all who opted for the
activation foresaw what has become another issue today. Corporate bodies and
other important message broadcasters have had it as practice to use bulk SMS service
platforms which are cost-effective in sending important messages to their
clients/acquaintances/applicants. The implication is that many would be left in the dark
without receiving important information that affect them positively or relationally
because of their choosing the DND activation.
The goodnews, however, is that anyone who had subscribed
for it can now reverse to become open to receiving messages via
bulk SMS services again. If you want to reverse your mobile line's status,
then follow these steps:
1. Text STOP to 2442
2. Then, text ALLOW to 2442
While it is hoped that senders of bulk SMS's find a way to ensure that target recipients are reached, it is also worth the while to be informed
about the implication of one’s decision. The database permits everyone to decide their line status at any time. This report is targeted
at those who opted for DND activation and now want a release to receive bulk SMS's again. Check online if you want to know more about DND service.
